Shared transport across the Nordics

Shared transport — when the driver is going your way anyway

A sofa from Helsinki to Tampere? Cottage supplies across the country? Rubber Wheels matches you with a driver whose route already fits — typically 30–50 % cheaper than a traditional moving company.

What shared transport means

Shared transport is delivery by an ordinary person whose route happens to suit your item — not a separately hired transport company. The driver was going to Tampere over the weekend anyway, your sofa fits in their trailer, they earn a little extra, and you get your item delivered for roughly half the price of a dedicated transport.

Rubber Wheels is a Nordic shared-transport platform. You post a delivery request in the app, drivers bid on the price, you pick the cheapest or most trustworthy. Payment is secured via Stripe — the driver receives the money only after you confirm the item has arrived.

How shared transport differs from a traditional removal company

Rubber Wheels shared transport

Helsinki–Tampere sofa €60–100

  • The driver is going your route anyway
  • You can order just what you need (a single item)
  • Drivers bid — you choose
  • Stripe-secured payment, released only after delivery
  • Verified drivers + ratings

Traditional removal company

Helsinki–Tampere from €200–400

  • Vehicle + driver dispatched specifically for you
  • Typically a 2–4 hour minimum charge
  • Fixed price, no competition
  • Invoice after the fact
  • Business-to-customer contract

When shared transport works best

Shared transport is most cost-effective when you move single large items or small batches — exactly when a traditional removal company’s full vehicle + minimum-hour driver would mostly be idle.

Online marketplace purchases

Sofa, fridge, bike from Tori, Blocket, Finn or DBA — delivered without renting a van.

IKEA pickups

A large chest, bed or sofa. The driver picks up from the store and delivers to your home.

Cottage supplies

North or south — the driver is heading that way anyway.

Student move

The contents of a studio flat don’t need a two-tonne van.

Single item

A bike, rowboat, painting — no need to hire a firm for one object.

Large appliance

Washing machine, tumble dryer, bathtub — when your own car isn’t enough.

Is shared transport safe?

Yes, when it’s built properly. On Rubber Wheels every driver must:

  • Verify their identity via Stripe before they can bid — the same legally required KYC process as opening a bank account
  • Display ratings — you see previous customers’ stars and comments before you choose
  • Take a photo at pickup and delivery — the item’s condition is documented automatically
  • Get paid only after you confirm delivery — Stripe holds the payment until then
