Who Rubber Wheels is for

It fits you if you have a trailer, van, delivery vehicle or simply a roomy passenger car with space, and you already drive longer routes — to work, the cottage, family, on free time. You don’t need to:

  • Be a registered business — you can also drive as a private individual
  • Commit to shifts or hours — you only take requests that fit your route
  • Be a professional driver — driving normally and responsibly is enough
  • Take deliveries daily — one delivery a month is as fine as several per week

What you earn per delivery

City trip

€30–80

10–30 km

Regional trip

€80–150

30–150 km

Long-distance

€150–250

150 km+

You set the price level yourself — the sender’s delivery request is shown to you, you bid the price you’re willing to drive for, and the sender picks. You don’t compete by underpricing yourself — you can ask a realistic price because there are usually several bids and the sender compares the whole package (price + ratings + timing).

What about taxes

Earnings from shared transport are taxable income. Smaller side income is declared in your personal tax return as other income. Larger activity may meet the criteria for business activity and require business registration — at that point it’s good to consult tax authorities or an accountant in your country.

The EU DAC7 directive requires Rubber Wheels to report drivers’ earnings to tax authorities annually if thresholds are exceeded. This is handled automatically — the driver doesn’t need to do anything separately, but tax information (business or personal ID) must be saved in the app.

What sets Rubber Wheels apart from other platforms

  • Payment secured upfront via Stripe. You don’t drive on credit and don’t end up unpaid — the sender’s payment is in the system before you head out.
  • You don’t commit to anything. You only bid on requests that fit you. You can pause anytime without explanations.
  • You set the price. No platform-set rates, no dynamic pricing where the platform reduces your fee at peak times.
  • 15 % platform fee. The remaining 85 % goes to you. Clear split, no hidden costs.
